Akashi Teramoto
OVERVIEW
Akashi Teramoto (b. 1992, Kanagawa, Japan) graduated Tama Art University with a masterʼs degree and is currently based in Art space Kaikasʼ located in Sagamihara City. In the past, Teramoto has created not only canvas works but also installations and has been working on paintings and exhibit-ing space with the exploration of space. Teramoto believes that “when people or things are placed side by side, they should have an equal relationship with each other, no matter the location,” and he calls the place where this relationship becomes clearer “patio” or courtyard. By repeatedly drawing the things or people exist before him, those “patio” arises in the canvas and those things begin to connect to one another. Teramotoʼs paintings and practices in space is an exploration of depicting this relationship between object and object as well as the space where objects exist.
