Next Exhibition: Saya Mimura -Charm-

N project is pleased to present “Charm,” a solo exhibition by Saya Mimura, from October 11 to November 2, 2024.

Saya Mimura, born in Mie Prefecture in 1997, graduated from the Master’s Program of Arts Major at Kyoto University of the Arts in 2022. She currently lives and works in Mie Prefecture.

Mimura’s art is based on her stock of photographs and drawings of everyday, casual scenes or places that catch her eye. She captures the intangible factors that exist in real space, such as temperature, smell, and the flicker of light, and uses these “ephemeral moments or scenes” as motifs for her silkscreen prints and paintings. In modern life, it’s easy to document and archive scenes and moments as images or videos. However, we can’t say for sure that the digital record is the same as the memory of an actual experience. For artists, the act of drawing or painting is a means of holding onto those sparkling sensations that linger in their memories, that are intangible and can’t be captured as data.

In this exhibition titled “Charm,” 13 pieces including Mimura’s latest works will be displayed.
